They are the larget Dental Benefits System in the United States of America.  Delta Dental can be found in all 50 states.  They are comprised of not for profit and for profit affiliates.  For over 50 years they have been providing access to oral health care to employers, groups and individuals.  They are the biggest dental plan system in the USA.

In the 1950's there were three dental service corporations in the states of California, Oregon and Washington and they provided dental benefit services to labour unions. In the 60's these state services formed an association to be able to coordinate dental benefits for their customers that had employees working in the different states.

As time has moved on Delta Dental has grown very large by continuing to provide dental benefit plans to customers nationwide.  They have 39 independent Delta Dental member companies that belong to the association and service all 50 states.
